Thanks to all the die-hard supporters of The Wakulla Independent Reporter. Despite the heat, and the occasional bug, we had a wonderful time at Wakulla Springs on July 3, socializing, listening to the great music of Jon Copps and Charlie Engstrom, and enjoying barbecue from Mack's Meats and delicious red-white-and-blue desserts (with gift certificates from Backwoods Bistro for the dessert contest winners). Thank you to those who came to the event and all of our contributors who gave so generously.
S. V. Dáte, who spoke at the benefit for the Wakulla Independent Reporter on July 3, 2007, has generously provided a written version of his thought-provoking remarks about modern journalism, public demand, and freedom of information.
